h1 — Welcome & Unboxing
What's in the box
Open your package on a clean surface. You should find the Trézor device, a USB cable, two recovery seed cards, and quick-start guides. Confirm the seal and packaging are intact before proceeding — tamper evidence is an important security check.
Why this matters
Confirming packaging prevents supply-chain tampering. If anything looks suspicious, contact official support immediately.
h2 — Initial Power-up & Firmware
Powering your device
Connect the device to your computer using the included cable. The device will display a welcome screen with a model identifier. Never enter your recovery seed into a computer — the device displays the setup information on its own secure screen.
Firmware integrity
Always update to the latest official firmware using Trézor Suite. The device will verify firmware signatures — follow on-screen prompts and never bypass integrity warnings.
h3 — Create a New Wallet
On-device setup steps
- Choose a PIN code directly on the device — this protects it from local theft.
- Write down the 12/24-word recovery seed exactly as shown, on the recovery cards provided.
- Confirm the seed by selecting a few words when prompted.
Best practices
Store your recovery seed offline, in multiple secure locations if necessary. Never save it digitally or photograph it.
h4 — Using Trézor Suite & Sending Crypto
Pairing with the Suite
Open Trézor Suite and follow the on-screen pairing instructions. The Suite provides a user-friendly interface for managing accounts, sending transactions, and installing third-party apps.
Sending a transaction
From Suite, create a transaction, check fee levels, and verify every detail on the device screen before confirming. On-device confirmation ensures the transaction details weren't tampered with by the host computer.
h5 — Advanced Security Tips
Passphrase & hidden wallets
Use a passphrase only if you understand the trade-offs — it creates hidden wallets but increases complexity and the risk of loss if you forget the passphrase.
Firmware & backup checks
Regularly check for firmware updates and validate backups. Periodically verify that recovery cards are readable and stored securely.
Final checklist & quick reference
- Unbox & inspect package for tampering.
- Power device and confirm model screen.
- Install official Trézor Suite and update firmware.
- Create PIN and write recovery seed on provided card(s).
- Verify transactions on-device before approving.
- Store recovery seed offline — never digitize it.
- Contact official support for any irregularities.
